During the second week of June, Avon Volunteer Fire Department members strengthened their technical rescue skills by completing a two-day Principles of Lifting & Stabilization course.

Firefighters used cribbing, high-pressure air bags, struts, hydraulic tools, chains, slings, straps, and other departmental equipment under the guidance of instructors Ted Borowski and Ryan McGlew of Connecticut Custom Fire Training LLC. The training integrated practical rescue scenarios based on actual emergencies with classroom instruction.

The department expressed gratitude to Wheeler Construction, A-1 Towing & Recovery, Farmington Motor Sports, Avon Public Works, and Connecticut Custom Fire Training for their support of the training.
