Wyckoff, N.J. — June 6 — The Fair Lawn Fire Department conducted a Large Diameter Hose Task Force training, in which the Wyckoff Volunteer Fire Department took part. In order to rehearse water delivery operations utilized during large commercial fires and other high-demand incidents, firefighters joined other departments. To increase effectiveness during mutual assistance reactions, crews received training on hose deployment, water relay techniques, equipment placement, and coordinated communication.
When more water is required, departments can transport large amounts of water over long distances using large diameter hose systems. In order to better prepare for complicated emergency situations, the regional exercise strengthened operational readiness, reinforced standardized tactics, and enhanced collaboration among Bergen County fire departments.
