The New York City Fire Department (FDNY) honored firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and officers for their life-saving efforts during incidents in the preceding year on June 3rd at its 157th Medal Day Ceremony at City Hall in Manhattan.
According to officials, the yearly event, which has been a departmental tradition since 1869, rewards members whose deeds demonstrate outstanding professionalism and service. Mayor Zohran Mamdani acknowledged the dedication and daily service of FDNY officers, while FDNY Commissioner Lillian Bonsignore commended the recipients for their commitment to safeguarding New Yorkers. Award winners were recognized for their exceptional work during citywide emergency responses.
Department leaders said Medal Day remains one of the FDNY's most significant traditions, celebrating the professionalism, courage, and commitment of its members.
