The Clinton Police Department, Clinton Emergency Management, Clinton Department of Public Works, Clinton Harbormaster, Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection, and private contractors collaborated with members of the Clinton Volunteer Fire Department on June 19th to evaluate and arrange for the removal of a ship that had sunk off Shore Road.
According to officials, Clinton Emergency Management's drones were used to do the whole evaluation from shore. During the first event, the aircraft detected possible risks, verified that no people were in the water, and assisted in directing responding vessels. The drones may be utilized safely for emergency operations because a number of local personnel are certified FAA Remote Pilots.
