The Clinton Volunteer Fire Department's new Brush/Utility Truck, which replaced the department's 2005 vehicle, was formally put into duty on June 17.
According to officials, the equipment was financed by ARPA funding, and the project was managed internally to make the most of the resources at hand. The truck will function as a brush unit in the spring, summer, and fall, carrying firemen, water, and equipment into backyards, utility trails, and wooded areas that are inaccessible to larger equipment. The truck will be modified for snow operations in the winter, supporting property upkeep, maintaining access points for water supplies, and helping at disaster scenes.
Department leaders also recognized the Clinton Department of Public Works for completing several upgrades in-house, including installation of the skid unit, electrical wiring, and an airbag suspension system. Officials said the collaboration reduced project costs, saved taxpayer money, and strengthened the department's operational capabilities.
