Avon, CT - Avon Volunteer Fire Department firefighters visited the Avon Free Public Library to teach children and families about fire safety, emergency preparedness, and what to expect when firefighters respond to emergencies.

The session covered smoke alarms, home escape plans, and safe meeting points. Firefighters also demonstrated protective gear, with one member suiting up on air to show what firefighters look and sound like in full equipment.

The interactive visit aimed to make fire service more familiar and less intimidating for young attendees while reinforcing important safety lessons.
