Fire Department Completed Water Relay Training

Watertown, CT. — June 9 — A training exercise on pump operations, pulling water from a pond, and setting up a water relay system was carried out by the Watertown Fire Department. In order to strengthen their skills in situations where hydrants are not available or more water is required, firefighters rehearsed delivering water from a remote source to simulated fire scenes. Crews coordinated water flow between devices while running engines, portable pumps, and hose lines.


Communication, pump performance, and overall fireground efficiency were all enhanced by the exercise. In order to ensure that departments can provide a continuous water supply during protracted events, rural water supply training is still a crucial component of fire service readiness. Frequent practical exercises improve teamwork, assist firemen stay skilled with equipment, and improve the department's capacity to react to community situations in a safe and efficient manner.
