New Milford, Conn. — June 6 — Richard T. Layton, an honorary member of Water Witch Hose Co. #2 of New Milford, passed away on June 6, 2026. He was recalled by the members for his warm disposition, upbeat outlook, and dedication to the fire department.

The agency acknowledged Layton's years of devoted service and offered its sympathies to the Layton family. By assisting with operations, upholding customs, and fostering closer relationships with the communities they serve, honorary members continue to play a significant role in volunteer fire departments.
