New Milford, CT. — May 26 — The Northville Fire Department gave students a hands-on look at the fire department by participating in the New Milford High School Wellness Fair. Students tested on the self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) packs and junior firefighter gear used in emergency situations. According to firefighters, a complete set of turnout gear and SCBA can weigh up to forty pounds, with additional tools adding even more weight.

The occasion brought attention to the significance of mental health, physical fitness, and healthy lifestyle choices in emergency services. Members of the department encouraged students to learn more about the field while discussing career prospects, community service, and firefighting responsibilities.
