LITCHFIELD, CT. — May 27 — As part of the department's continuing preparation program, a number of Litchfield Fire Department personnel took part in driver training on Wednesday night. Safe equipment operation, vehicle placement, backing techniques, and operating emergency vehicles in a controlled setting were the main topics of the workshop. Officers gave members who were trying to keep or improve their driving credentials practical training.

In order to assist staff in operating emergency vehicles safely during responses, driver training is a crucial component of fire department operations. Frequent drills help firemen maintain operational readiness, satisfy departmental standards, and gain confidence behind the wheel. The training was one of many regular exercises that were carried out all year long.
