Dry Hydrant Maintenance Supports Rural Fire Protection

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

KENT, CT. — June 4 — As part of ongoing preparations for the water supply, members of the Kent Volunteer Fire Department spent Thursday maintaining dry hydrants around the neighborhood. Hydrants were blown out and pumped by firefighters to keep them functional and ready to supply dependable water access in rural regions. In situations where municipal water supplies are unavailable, dry hydrants enable equipment to draw water from ponds and other sources.

Regular maintenance ensures that water supplies are still available and helps spot possible problems before an emergency arises. According to department representatives, routine inspections are crucial to preserving preparedness and promoting efficient fire safety throughout Kent and the neighboring response region.
