Flash Fire Industries delivered specialized fire behavior training for Somers Fire Department personnel on May 30.

According to officials, the course covered thermal imaging, water extinguisher operations, flashover recognition, and fire behavior. In instances when a hoseline would not be immediately available, firefighters learned how to use water extinguishers, assess thermal imaging data, and spot symptoms of rapid fire spread.

Additionally, the training exposed participants to high temperatures that are hard to duplicate in a typical training facility, giving them important insight into actual fireground settings.

According to department commanders, the program improved the knowledge and decision-making abilities of firefighters while emphasizing the significance of identifying shifting fire conditions and conducting operations safely during emergency situations.
