This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Champlain, N.Y. — May 25 — For several days, members of the CFD Auxiliary, Niagara Hose Company No. 1, and the Champlain Fire District prepared entries for the community's yearly Memorial Day Parade. Firefighters, auxiliary members, and locals came together to acknowledge the value of service and remembrance. The department's ongoing dedication to local customs is demonstrated by the numerous hours of work and cooperation necessary to prepare parade units.

Members also honored firemen and auxiliary volunteers who had died recently as part of the celebration. Their achievements shaped the department and provided generations of community support. Memorial Day, according to department officials, is still a chance to recognize local volunteers whose commitment made a lasting difference as well as military service.
