Plattsburgh, N.Y. — June 8 — A joint training exercise on rural water supply and maritime operations was conducted by members of the Peru Fire Department and the South Plattsburgh Fire Department. In order to replicate water delivery procedures in locations without hydrant access, crews rehearsed pulling water from a lake, filling tankers, and supplying a makeshift pond. Additionally, firefighters trained on Marine 32, going over equipment, vessel operations, and water-related emergency response protocols.

In rural areas, where tanker shuttles and drafting operations are frequently necessary, a steady supply of water is nevertheless essential to battle fires. According to department officials, the training improved interagency collaboration, sharpened operational abilities, and made sure teams were ready for both water rescue and fire suppression situations.
