HACKETTSTOWN, NJ — June 9th — As part of their monthly extrication drill, members of Mansfield Township Fire Company No. 1 and Tri-County Volunteer Fire Company trained on a car stuck under a bus. In order to safely reach and remove simulated occupants while controlling the risks posed by the massive vehicle and small working area, crews performed stabilization, lifting, and cutting techniques.

Firefighters were able to hone their technical rescue abilities, coordination, and communication skills—all of which are crucial in major car accidents. Regular practical training helps maintain preparedness for complicated events, according to department officials. Community members donated a car to assist ongoing firefighter training efforts, making the exercise possible.
