Bergen Fire Department Honors Volunteer EMTs During EMS Week

The Bergen Fire Department honored its volunteer emergency medical services staff and their contributions to the community on May 18th in observance of National EMS Week.


Chest discomfort, breathing problems, falls, car collisions, diseases, and injuries are just a few of the many crises that emergency medical services (EMS) react to, according to officials. More than half of the department's calls are medical in nature, putting EMS workers at the forefront of emergency response and community healthcare.


About 15 EMTs presently work in the neighborhood, according to department leaders, and others are getting ready to start training. Additionally, they emphasized that the department is one of the few surviving totally volunteer EMS organizations in the region.
