PEMBROKE, VA. — May 26th — Students from Eastern Elementary Middle School participated in a community safety event hosted by the Pembroke Volunteer Fire Department, Pembroke Police Department, and Giles Lifesaving and Rescue Squad. Children learned about the responsibilities of firemen, police officers, and EMS professionals while touring a fire engine, police car, and ambulance. Responders addressed inquiries on emergency services and provided crucial safety information.

Additionally, students had the chance to hear emergency vehicle sirens and put on firefighting gear. Lorie Hale, John Hale, Landin South, Jenny Anderson, Trevor Hale, and other attendees were commended by the organizers for their support of the event, which improved relationships between first responders and the youngest members of the community.
