Members of the Eustis Fire Department practiced operating and deploying the department's recently purchased Marine 1 rescue vessel on May 26.

According to officials, the practical training taught firemen how to use the new equipment's navigation capabilities, deployment methods, and response protocols. The simulation also demonstrated the vessel's adaptability and how it may improve emergency response and water rescue operations.

Firefighters received training on Flagstaff Lake, which has several submerged hazards and difficult navigational circumstances. Department heads pointed out that crews can identify important sites and react to crises on the water safely and effectively thanks to sophisticated onboard navigation and mapping technologies. Officials said the addition of Marine 1 strengthens the department’s emergency response capabilities and improves service to the community.
