ATKINSON, NH — June 3rd — Firefighters Ryan McKenna and Nick Mitton were certified as Advanced Emergency Medical Technicians (AEMTs) by the Atkinson Fire Department. Over 180 hours of coursework, practical skill training, and national certification testing were all part of the certification process. Both firefighters are certified to perform advanced patient care, such as IV access, drug administration, airway management, and heart monitoring, because they are AEMTs.

According to department officials, the accomplishment improves the treatment given to residents during medical emergencies and fortifies the agency's emergency medical response capabilities. The achievement also demonstrates the firefighters' dedication to ongoing education, career advancement, and community service in Atkinson.
