Avondale, PA - On June 4, 2026, the members of Avondale Fire Company, in partnership with West Grove Fire Company, welcomed participants from the Avon Grove Charter School 2026 Summer Day Camp for an educational and interactive fire safety experience.

Throughout the visit, campers learned important lessons on fire prevention, home fire safety, basic first aid, and the importance of developing and practicing a family emergency escape plan. Students were also given a guided tour of the fire station and had the opportunity to explore the department’s apparatus, including Ladder 22.

A highlight of the day was a hands-on fire extinguisher training session using the department’s newly acquired training prop, purchased through a grant designed to enhance public fire safety education programs. This practical exercise allowed students to gain valuable experience in a safe and controlled environment.

To cap off the event, each camper received a firefighter helmet as a special keepsake from their visit. Avondale and West Grove Fire Companies extend their appreciation to the students and staff of Avon Grove Charter School for spending the day with them and hope everyone left with valuable fire safety knowledge and lasting memories.
