Crisp County Firefighters Welcome New Engine During Traditional Ceremony

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

During a push-in ceremony at Station 5 on May 8, Crisp County Fire Rescue personnel formally welcomed Engine 51 into service.

Firefighters, department heads, and members of the Board of Commissioners reportedly convened to commemorate the installation of the new equipment. The push-in ceremony commemorates a long-standing fire service custom that dates back to the days of horse-drawn fire engines, when firefighters would manually push equipment back into the station after returning from emergencies.

Engine 51, which was funded by SPLOST, is a substantial investment in emergency response capability, operational preparedness, and firefighter safety. In order to improve service delivery throughout the county, the apparatus is outfitted with modern firefighting equipment, improved safety features, and updated technology. Department officials thanked the Board of Commissioners for its continued support of public safety initiatives and infrastructure improvements
