As part of the department's onboarding and training procedure, the Cordele Fire Department reported on May 20th that its newest firefighter has successfully finished a Physical Agility Test (PAT).

According to officials, the new hire also finished a ladder climb and took part in restricted space training intended to increase knowledge with firefighting techniques and tools. The agency reported that throughout each shift, new firefighters receive practical training that focuses on basic firefighting abilities, equipment use, and gear familiarization.

Until the fireman attends the Georgia Public Safety Training Center to obtain state firefighter certification, training will continue.
