COMMERCE, GA — May 25th — In observance of Memorial Day, the Commerce Fire Department joined communities nationwide in paying tribute to military personnel who died while serving their country. The purpose of the celebration is to honor those who gave their lives in defense of the country and to acknowledge the enduring effects of their service. Residents were urged by department officials to remember fallen service members and their families as they commemorated the day.


Memorial Day also represents the ideals of service, devotion, and commitment that first responders and military members share, according to many in the emergency services sector. The agency conveyed their appreciation to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
