This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

Milltown Fire Department's 2025 Polars SP570, identified as Utility 71, is a 4 seater equipped with an upgraded suspension and 8 ply all terrain tires, windshield kit and a winch. The lighting setup was from a recently retired chief's command vehicle that was installed in-house by our members. The pickup bed features a "Slip In" skid unit from Wildland warehouse, and 40-gallons of water with a centrifugal pump that can detach and be placed at a water source. The hose reel is equipped with 100-feet of forestry hose and the unit is also equipped with a portable light tower under the seat compartment.

It was featured in Wildwood last year as a display piece for the manufacturer of the skid unit and this year it was instrumental in carrying supplies and manpower for landing the State Police Helicopter in the baseball fields adjacent to our firehouse for a Burn Patient. As of last week, it had its first "job" in our foot path/trail that goes through a wooded area alongside the Boro Pond. Crews were able to get it positioned deep in enough to flow water and a secondary engine flowed water from a booster line from the neighborhood above the path.

You can regularly find "Utility 71" at any event going on in the boro such as baseball games, park events and on the 4th of July it is in The woods behind the fireworks display.

Utility 71 encapsulates the spirit of our Department and our Town. LITTLE BIG GUY, that's us, we are a small Boro in Middlesex County, but we are Big when it comes to protecting our Boro and surrounding communities!
