Sebring and Highlands Crews Completed Live Burn Training

SEBRING, Fl. — May 8th — Highlands County Fire Rescue and the Sebring Fire Department participated in a controlled live burn practice at the South Florida State College burn house. In a controlled setting, the training gave firefighters and fire school students practical practice in genuine fireground situations. Crews concentrated on operational decision-making, cooperation, communication, and fire attack strategies. Additionally, Assistant Chief Maddox and Lieutenant Benham were able to continue pursuing their credentials as live burn instructors because to the exercise.


David Leidel, a city councilman, went to the training facility to watch firefighting operations and gain greater insight into the difficulties faced by emergency personnel. According to department officials, the joint exercise enhanced cooperation between organizations serving the same population and reinforced ties for mutual aid.
