Escambia, FL - Escambia County Fire Rescue recently conducted a rehabilitation (rehab) training exercise in partnership with BRACE, focused on enhancing firefighter health, safety, and operational effectiveness during extended emergency incidents.

During large-scale or prolonged operations, firefighters face extreme conditions including intense heat, physical exhaustion, dehydration, and high stress. This training emphasized the importance of establishing a dedicated rehab area where personnel can rest, rehydrate, cool down or warm up, and receive medical monitoring before safely returning to duty.

Crews also reinforced how rehab operations support incident command by improving accountability and ensuring firefighters remain physically and mentally ready to perform.

Proper rehab practices play a critical role in reducing fatigue-related injuries and medical emergencies, ultimately contributing to safer and more successful incident outcomes.
