MATAWAN, NJ — May 25th — Aberdeen Township Hose and Chemical Co. #1 observed Memorial Day alongside communities nationwide, paying tribute to U.S. military personnel who lost their lives while serving their country. The purpose of the annual celebration is to honor service soldiers who gave their lives to defend the United States. Members of the department understood the significance of paying tribute to those who never made it back home and to the families who carry on their legacy.

Memorial Day also serves as a reminder of the shared ideals of devotion, duty, and dedication between emergency responders and members of the armed forces. Residents were urged by the government to pause and honor the country's fallen soldiers.
