CORTLAND, N.Y. — May 4th — The Cortlandville Fire Department, headquartered at 999 NYS Route 13, observed International Firefighters' Day alongside fire service groups across the globe. The yearly celebration honors the commitment of firemen who use public education, emergency response, training, and fire prevention to safeguard their communities. It also pays tribute to those who have given their lives while performing their duties.


Residents of Cortlandville and the department have benefited from the service of both current and previous members, according to department officials.
