This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

NEW OXFORD, PA. — May 6th — United Hook & Ladder Company #33 members, 21 N. Bolton Street went to the preschool class at New Oxford High School to teach them about fire safety and to acquaint them with the fire department. Children had the chance to have a close-up look at the apparatus and learn about the tools used in emergency situations when firefighters brought a fire engine to the school. Crews answered questions from the children, went over fundamental fire safety procedures, and described the job of firefighters.

School visits continue to be a crucial component of community outreach initiatives, assisting young children in learning about emergency responders and safety lessons at a young age. In addition to offering an educational opportunity, the event strengthened the bond between local families and firemen.
