NORWICH, CT. — May 25th — Occum Fire Department members participated in the annual Norwich Memorial Day Parade alongside firemen from the Taftville, Yantic, East Great Plain, and Laurel Hill fire departments in remembrance of military personnel who died while serving their country. Residents, community organizations, emergency responders, and veterans came together to pay homage to fallen service members. The long-standing relationship between the military and fire service communities is shown in the large number of volunteer firemen who have also served in the armed services.

Firefighters from 44 Taftville-Occum Road marched in support of the event alongside nearby companies. Memorial Day events throughout continue to honor the dedication, service, and enduring legacy of those who lost their lives defending the United States.
