After spending the academic year learning alongside department members, three interns from Barnstable High School recently finished their year-long internship with the Barnstable Fire Department on May 20.

Throughout the course of the program, the students were exposed to the fire service firsthand by taking part in practical training and seeing what firefighters do on a daily basis. Throughout the year, department officials commended the interns for their diligence, optimistic outlook, and commitment.

In order to make the internship a worthwhile educational experience, the department also acknowledged the firemen who acted as mentors and shared their expertise.
