CHESTER, Mass. — May 1st — The Chester Volunteer Fire Department participated in the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services Maze Trailer training alongside a number other western Massachusetts units. Firefighters from Chester, Huntington, Russell, Westhampton, Richmond, Dalton, and Worcester took part in practical exercises that covered low-visibility operations, search strategies, and firefighter survival. The Maze Trailer replicates the cramped areas and smoke-filled settings that are frequently seen during building fires.

According to representatives of the Chester Volunteer Fire Department, which is situated at 300 Route 20 in Chester, regional training exercises strengthen communication and fireground safety abilities while enhancing coordination between mutual assistance departments. To promote operational safety and firefighter preparedness, the Massachusetts Department of Fire Services continues to offer mobile training programs around the state.
