This 1983 100' Seagrave ladder started life as Ladder 1 in Reading, PA. In 1997 it was moved to a reserve and re-designated as Ladder 2. After a few years with this assignment the City sold the ladder after repair costs began to accumulate. The ladder served various departments and ultimately ended up with a department in Missouri. It ran with a small department in Missouri before being taken out of service and retired.
Just recently, the ladder was placed up for sale and was spotted online by a gentleman named Mark who has quite a collection of former Reading pieces. Mark purchased the piece and contacted a local towing outfit (Arndt's Towing) to go to Missouri and bring it back to Reading. This piece was brought back into Pennsylvania on 5/8/2022, and was still loaded on the trailer as Will (Owner of Arndt's Towing) participated in the Make-A-Wish convoy prior to delivering the ladder truck 2 days later.
As for now, Mark will begin fixing/restoring the Seagrave to it's former glory after returning to Reading after 20 plus years away.
*Many thanks to Mark and Will for your time, information, and hospitality!
