The Chicopee Battle of the Badges Hockey Team gave $4,000 to the Chicopee Boys & Girls Club, according to an announcement made by the Chicopee Fire Department on April 30.
The Battle of the Badges program, a volunteer organization composed of members from the Chicopee Police and Fire Departments, is celebrating its tenth anniversary this year, according to officials. Over the last ten years, the organization has given scholarships to students at Chicopee High School and Chicopee Comprehensive High School in addition to supporting a number of local initiatives, such as Lorraine's Soup Kitchen & Pantry.
