Following the line-of-duty death of Morrill, Maine firefighter Andrew Cross during a fire in Searsmont, Maine, the Berlin Fire and EMS Department sent condolences on May 16.

Following the unfortunate event, department officials said their sympathies are still with Cross's family, friends, and fellow firefighters. Additionally, the department revealed that several firefighters were apparently seriously injured while fighting the same fire.

Members of Berlin Fire and EMS joined other departments in the area to recognize the Firefighter Cross and acknowledge the sacrifices made by firefighters who serve their communities.
