ASCUTNEY, Vt. — 3rd May — Chief Spaulding was honored by members of the Department Ascutney Volunteer Fire Association, situated at 540 Route 131 in Ascutney, during a memorial acknowledgment that coincided with an event in Maryland to commemorate his contribution to the fire community. The Spaulding family, who were unable to physically attend the recognition event, also received support from department members. Chief Spaulding's commitment and leadership, according to officials, had a long-lasting effect on the department and the local emergency services community.

In Windsor County, the Ascutney Volunteer Fire Association is still offering mutual aid, fire safety, and rescue services. According to department members, paying tribute to prior leaders is still a significant custom in the volunteer fire service and contributes to the preservation of local emergency response groups' histories.
