NEW VERNON, N.J. — May 13th — At the Morris County Fire Academy, firefighters from the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department participated in the yearly Class A burn training with members of the Chatham Township and Chatham Borough fire departments. During controlled training scenarios, the live-fire exercise concentrated on interior firefighting operations, communication, coordination, and collaboration. According to officials, the exercises enhance collaboration between adjacent agencies around Morris County while assisting firemen in preparing for working incidents.

To maintain operational readiness, the New Vernon Volunteer Fire Department frequently takes part in county training exercises. In order to assist the exercise, the New Vernon First Aid Squad staffed a firefighter rehab station for crews wearing full protective gear. Regional training is still necessary for safe and efficient emergency response operations, according to fire officials.
