Cadets Joseph Basich and Nick Ashwell received congratulations from the Centerton Fire Company on May 18th for finishing the Firefighter 1 program at the Salem County Fire Academy.

Both cadets will continue to advance their training as they pursue Firefighter 2 certification, according to officials. To help safeguard the community during emergency situations, the new firemen will start using the department's first-out apparatus.

The department acknowledged the pair's dedication to the fire service and commended them for finishing the rigorous training program.
