Wantagh Fire Dept Responds to Water Rescue in Zach’s Bay

WANTAGH, N.Y. — 8th May — During a water rescue at Zach's Bay and the Third Bridge, the Nassau County Police Emergency Ambulance Bureau received assistance from the Department Wantagh Fire Dept Marine Unit in Wantagh, NY, USA, 11793. According to officials, the operator of a recreational boat was thrown from the pilot's seat and suffered a head injury after the boat struck a sand bar. Later on, the ship was caught on the sand bar.
Marine 31 launched with two Nassau County Police medics on board, and Chief of Department William Stevens took command at Wantagh Park. Rich Mongiello, the third assistant chief, oversaw communications between land and maritime forces. The patient was moved to a waiting ambulance for transportation to a nearby hospital with the help of Squad 1, Rescue 3, and EMS personnel.
