The Cheshire Volunteer Fire Department was called to the southern end of its district on May 2nd for a specialized rescue involving a dog and a human who were stranded about 40 feet down a cliff.

According to officials, further help from the Bristol Volunteer Fire Department and the Canandaigua Volunteer Fire Assistance Department was needed due to the isolated location and challenging access. In order to properly lower a rescuer to the stranded people, firefighters created a rescue plan.

The dog and the person were both rescued unharmed. The New York State Police, the Naples Ambulance, and the Ontario County Sheriff's Office also offered more support.
