On April 29, probationary members Jessica Gaestel, Connor Feehan, and Courtland Hackel were congratulated by Bay Head Fire Company No. 1 on passing the New Jersey State Firefighter 1 exam.

According to officials, in order to reach the certification milestone, the members underwent intensive training and preparation at the fire academy. The three firefighters in the department formally switched from orange probationary shields to black firefighter shields after completing Firefighter 1.

The department added that the firemen will continue their training as they advance to Firefighter 2 certification and commended their devotion, hard work, and dedication to the fire service.
