CHATHAM, NJ — April 30th — As part of its continuous readiness program, the Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department held an evening training exercise at 52 Rose Terrace. During the drill, workers performed simulated fireground operations as fire apparatus were placed along surrounding roadways. Throughout the evening, locals were informed that they may see emergency vehicles and hear radio communication relating to training.

According to department officials, the drill's major goal was to keep the township prepared for emergency situations like building fires. Firefighter coordination, hose line operations, and incident command protocols were among the training evolutions. In order to help members improve their collaboration, communication, and operational abilities while getting ready for crises around the Chatham Township community, the department periodically holds practical exercises.
