Wildwood Crest Crews Hold Extrication Drill With New Hurst Equipment

This article is a direct street report from our correspondent and has not been edited by the 1st Responder newsroom.

WILDWOOD CREST, NJ — April 20th — During a practical automobile rescue exercise on Monday night, members of the Wildwood Crest Volunteer Fire Department trained using recently purchased battery-powered Hurst extrication tools. In order to practice tool operations, vehicle stabilization, door removal, and patient access techniques required in motor vehicle crashes, firefighters worked on a number of donated vehicles.

Through the training, teams were able to improve their cooperation during rescue missions and become acquainted with the new equipment. Because they eliminate hydraulic hoses and shorten setup times, battery-powered rescue tools are becoming more and more popular among fire departments. To keep everyone in the area prepared for emergency reactions and mutual aid activities, the department routinely holds training exercises.
