STONE HARBOR, NJ — 30th April — Firefighters from Stone Harbor Volunteer Fire Company #1 trained on Fireboat 13 in anticipation of the summer. Crews went over boat operations, communications, equipment deployment, and marine firefighting protocols utilized in coastal and waterway emergencies. Additionally, firefighters trained coordinating their responses to emergencies involving docks, waterfront properties, and vessels.
In coastal towns, marine operations continue to play a significant role in emergency response, particularly during the busy summer months when boating and beach activity rise. Regular practical exercises, according to department officials, help ensure preparedness for water rescues, vessel fires, and other marine-related catastrophes. Firefighters had more expertise using specialist marine firefighting equipment in practical settings during the training program.
