Burlington, VT - Burlington Fire Department members have successfully completed the classroom portion of the department’s Senior Firefighter Program, a 40-hour course designed to develop leadership skills and enhance operational knowledge.

The program equips firefighters with the tools needed to take on increased responsibility within the department, focusing on leadership, decision-making, and advanced fire service concepts.

These firefighters will now continue their development through mentored ride time, independent study, and hands-on review of fire alarm and sprinkler systems as they work toward eligibility for promotion after meeting required service benchmark
