CHARLESTON, ME — April 21st — As part of their continuous preparation for responding to brush and woodland fires during Maine's spring fire season, members of the Charleston Fire Department took part in wildland fire training. Hose deployment, hand tool operations, building fire lines, coordinating water supplies, and firefighter safety in outdoor fire situations were the main topics of the training. Additionally, crews went over communication protocols and suppression strategies that are frequently employed in extended wildland operations and swift-moving brush fires.

The agency, which has its headquarters at 13 Atkinson Road, often holds seasonal training to increase preparedness for rural fire situations and mutual aid responses across the area. According to fire officials, ongoing training improves response effectiveness, operational safety, and cooperation during wildland and brush fire crises.
