CARMEL, ME — May 6th — Inside the Maine Fire Service Institute SCBA air management trailer, members of the Carmel Fire & Rescue junior firefighter program took part in practical training. Air consumption awareness, moving while wearing self-contained breathing apparatus equipment, and safe operations under controlled training conditions were the main topics of the session. Junior firefighters finished hands-on training intended to increase their familiarity with emergency response protocols and SCBA use.

According to fire officials, the training prepares younger personnel for future operational duties while helping them acquire critical fire service skills. By offering specialized firefighter education and practical training opportunities at the local level, the Maine Fire Service Institute mobile training program consistently supports departments throughout the state.
