Auburn, NY - Auburn Fire Department, New York, continues to emphasize ongoing preparedness through hands-on training with specialized rescue equipment carried on frontline apparatus.

On-duty crews recently conducted a low-angle rope rescue scenario utilizing the Arizona Vortex system, capstan rigging setup, rope systems, and rescue basket operations.

The evolution focused on controlled lowering and raising techniques, system setup, and safe patient packaging under technical rescue conditions.

Additional training sessions earlier in the week included familiarization and operational practice with the capstan winch system, confined space air cart, SCBA and SCBA-pack operations, portable lighting, and generator equipment assigned to Rescue 1.

These drills reinforced proficiency with technical rescue tools and ensured crews remain ready for a wide range of emergency incidents.

Regular hands-on training continues to strengthen operational readiness and enhance the department’s ability to deliver safe and effective rescue services to the community.
