International Firefighters’ Day Honored in Bangor

BANGOR, ME — May 4th — In commemoration of International Firefighters' Day, the Bangor Maine Fire Department honored emergency responders and firefighters who serve communities in Maine and around the globe. Every year on May 4th, departments are encouraged to honor the dedication, cooperation, and sacrifices made by volunteer and career firefighters. While continuing to advance firefighter safety and welfare, officials also emphasized the significance of honoring firefighters who died while performing their duties.


The Bangor Maine Fire Department, located at 289 Main Street, offers emergency response, rescue, EMS, and fire suppression services all across the city. To recognize the daily role firefighters play in preserving lives, property, and public safety, departments throughout the region joined the global observance.
