IPSWICH, MA — On April 13th — The Ipswich Fire Department honored emergency dispatchers for their involvement in day-to-day operations and observed National Public Safety Telecommunications Week alongside local police officials. By answering 911 calls, managing radio traffic, and giving vital information to fire, EMS, and law enforcement officials during crises, dispatchers act as a conduit for communication between the general public and emergency responders.

According to public safety officials, dispatchers frequently serve as the initial point of contact in an emergency and assist workers until the situation is resolved. Every year, National Public Safety Telecommunications Week is commemorated to honor the efforts of emergency communications experts nationwide.
